Community Wellness

October 12, 2017

What does it mean to be well?  To be in community?  These are all questions as living, loving, feeling human beings we have considered at some point in our lives.  But have you ever considered them together?  To be a member of a community is to be apart of a tribe, a group of like-minded individuals, and to be well is to be in  good health.  The members of our communities are an intregal aspect of our well being.  Community and wellness can not exists without each other, they have a symbiotic relationship, when we feel supported and loved it has an emotional and physical consequence.  Life is much too heavy to carry on our own, so we need other people, friends, family, neighbours who are traveling along the same paths to share the load.

Most commonly community is our family and where we live, our geography; our neighbours and greater neighbourhood that surrounds our homes. Community is also created in the activities we do or the careers and jobs we have.  We spend so much time with our co-workers that it becomes a natural community.  Big corporations have invested billions of dollars into creating community within their organizations, if the culture of the community is a positive one our health will reflect this.  Human nature is to seek that which makes us content... enter physical activity... yoga! Side bar: Physical activity releases endorphins which are the feel good hormones.

Yoga, studios and teachers, have done an amazing job at creating community, designing spaces where people can come together in activity and achieve tremendous wellness through community.

I am honoured to be apart of this community initiative where we understand the desire to be in community and be in health.  The Community Wellness Network was born of the desire to bring most treasured practices into our geographical community.

Come and be apart of our community.
