Divine Rainbow Play Dough

May 13, 2016

I am all about making the process of creativity as much fun as creating the final product. Who doesn't love getting their fingers in the warm gooey dough right out of the pot?  And if you've never made play dough and for whatever reason prefer the commercially prepared version, just know that when something is packaged as "Non Toxic" doesn't that make you wonder what the heck it's made of? One should assume based on the "dough like" consistency that it is a simple a combination of salt, water and flour...  Leave it to big business to make it all chemical laden, so much so that they can't call it dough!

Enough with that.

Just make this and enjoy the process as much as the hours of creative play that is to follow.

2 cups flour

2 cups cold water

1 cup salt

1 tbsp oil

2 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Combine in a sauce pan and cook on medium heat until thickened into dough.  Remove from heat, transfer to lightly floured surface and kneed.

Split dough into smaller pieces (depending on how many colours you want)

Red + Blue = purple

Blue + yellow = green

yellow + red = orange

So as you can see, you need only the primary colours to make 6 colours!

Add a few drops of essential oil to each ball of dough:

Whatever your heart desires!

Let the senses explode with elation!  Enjoy.
